Teflon Don
I'm back baby
They really aren't. While there may be some bias on the editorial pages, the good papers are still outstanding.
People are doing themselves a disservice by buying into Trump's "fake news" thing, or the general vilification of the media. I get the Sunday NYT every week. Last week, there was an extensive article about a woman in the heartland who was losing her factory job because it was moving to Mexico. It mentioned Trump, but only because she was a supporter - it had no political bent at all. But it gave such an emotional & deep insight into what a situation like that means to someone living it - one of those things that should be a must-read for everyone. Heart-wrenching & informative, and it really showed every aspect of it - from the young Mexican worker who was going to benefit, to the co-workers upset that she would train her replacement, to how losing a job like that in an economically challenged area was going to affect everything from how she eats to her daughter being able to go to college.
It was outstanding journalism - as good as any research & writing I've read in my life. There are still many dedicated professionals out there doing the work, and it is important work. They deserve better than to all be lumped into someone's political agenda and dismissed as "fake" or anything but exceptional.
So the story made you sad. Almost like you were living it I bet. You probably won’t do anything for them. But I bet they appreciate you mentioning them on this message board
Maybe she should move to Mexico illegally and take jobs from the spics?
