Bush the elder statesman

It's a weird day for someone like me when Bush's words seem eloquent, rational & even soaring. I applaud him for the great speech he gave yesterday, and for being one of a growing # on the right who are speaking out about what is happening. Both he & Obama really made strong statements yesterday about leadership and reminded all of us that we shouldn't be setting the bar as low as it is right now.

Republicans on the hill are still too afraid. What Bush said, what Corker said, what McCain has said - these are things that they are likely all thinking. They need to be more courageous & speak out.

Only Trump can make Bush look like a mental and moral colossus by comparison. We thought Bush was as bad as it got about 10 years ago, then Trump came along and lowered the bar so much that Republicans would need a fucking ladder just to reach the bottom.

did you even listen to that hogwash? Bush wraps up everything in the Lord and neocon exceptionalism.

"Praise the lord and pass the nation building"

It was good to hear him talk about nationalism like that.

One of Trump's surrogates equated nationalism w/ patriotism the other night on one of the cable shows. I know this is how a lot of Trumpsters think, but it was interesting to hear one come out & say it.

Nationalism is not patriotism.

the old republican guard liked to pretend they were not racists

they still caged voters and cheated people out of their rights to vote
