Tax reform is needed

Without a doubt.

But Trump's plan IS a plan for the rich. Every single surrogate I have seen has been confronted about that, and the answer is the same: well, the middle class will see a reduction, too.

But the rich get 80% of the benefit. 80%. The thinking is clearly that if they throw the middle class a bone, they'll ignore a massive redistribution geared to the top earners.

Oh - and some aren't even earners. Eliminating the estate tax? My goodness. Trump wants to help create a new aristocracy.

source? links? where is this 80%..Estate tax is small potatos-Congress can work it out -
this is a proposal.

Of course the Dems and The Republican establishment will never actually DO ANYTHING -but that's a given.

Good for you for at least understanding reform ( not just tax cuts) are needed

47% don't pay federal income tax. They are talking about doubling the EITC. Almost by definition any changes are going to hit the top earners most (for better or worst).

So what tax changes will only help the middle class?

There already is a new aristocracy. Trumps will exacerbate the problem. These people better watch it. History is riddled with the heads of aristocrats rolling about when the disparity is too much to bear. The rabble take up arms.

Just the idea that "tax reform" will add 1.5 trillion to our debt should automatically end any notion of it being approved.

i didn't know that about the EITC.
I do know the standard deduction is supposed to 2x -which mean less lower income people pay taxes ( progressive) .
Those that do will be more likely to use the standard deduction also -tax simplification

hilarious comping from a Democrat.Obama doubled the national debt ($10T additional)

I won't even get into dynamic scoring vs.the static scores the CBO has to use

WICHITA, Kan. — In December 2014, the University of Kansas agreed to pay David Beaty $800,000 a year, plus incentives, to be the football program’s head coach, but with an interesting structure: More than two-thirds of that pay would be channeled to an organization called DB Sports L.L.C.
DB Sports is what accountants call a pass-through entity, and it pays all of its profits directly to Mr. Beaty. As a result of a tax law that Kansas lawmakers passed in 2012, ostensibly to benefit beleaguered small businesses in the state, that contract structure allowed Mr. Beaty to avoid paying about $37,000 a year in state income taxes, nearly enough to fund a first-year teacher’s salary in the Wichita school district.

With the state hemorrhaging government revenue, Kansas lawmakers rolled back the tax law this year, but congressional Republicans and President Trump are trying to take the experiment with pass-through preferences national, beyond Wichita and Topeka to cities with residents who measure incomes in seven, eight or nine figures.

its very libertarian

Republicans write spending bill, not Obama. I though your kind sweetie, is in favor of balanced budgets, what happened to that?

False choice. It's not about ONLY helping the middle class.

It's about this plan being a massive giveaway to the very rich, w/ a few crumbs for the middle class.

you act like removing tax breaks will not hurt the rich. Who benefits from salt deductions? The upper 30% of the country who itemize.

According to studies the actual tax rate of corporations is 15-17% with all the deductions. But only the rich companies benefit from those deductions the small dont have the lawyers to exploit them. The rich corporations will actually pay more.

HINT: it isn't the middle class
