He cares that he has found an issue that can distract and fire up his base voters in the rust belt & elsewhere, and divide the country.

I have no doubt that he put Pence up to that shameless grandstanding on Sunday. He reached out to Jerry Jones about the NFL rulebook to get Jones - a massive hypocrite who had no outrage signing an abuser of women but now can't stand to see men kneel in a peaceful protest - to take a more hardline approach to his players. He tweeted AGAIN this morning about the NFL "disrespecting our flag" and calling for an end to their tax breaks.

This is all so transparent, so obvious - when are the mind-numbed 35% going to starting seeing through it? It's cynical, it's phony and it's 100% Trump. Just a con man of the highest order, playing his base like a fiddle.

Let's not forget - he respects the country & military so much that he only likes the guys who didn't get captured.

You sound sad that the players are losing this issue and Trump is winning. Sucks to be you.

So let's get this straight, you think that the players have a "right" to protest and you claim that they aren't protesting the flag or the anthem, yet they are doing their kneeling DURING the National Anthem. Why don't they kneel during the coin toss? Why don't start players sit out the first series? Why don't they have marches in their own time? Why do they choose the anthem? You think that they chose something that will call attention to their cause. It has done the exact opposite. Nobody is talking about dead negroes. There is no conversation. They are talking about rich players who make more than the people buying their tickets and jerseys disrespecting the flag.

It doesn't matter whether you agree with the people who think they are disrespecting the flag. What matters is that MANY people believe that they are. Let's see if any player defies Jerry Jones. It is their right to do so, so let's see if any of them have the balls to do it. I suspect they won't. I suspect they will be good little boys and stand at attention for the National Anthem. Why? Because Jerry Jones is their fucking boss. He gets the right to tell them what they can do when they are on company time and make no mistake when they step on that field they are on company time.

Your supposed mind reading capability aside, what is so unusual about a politician using an issue to fire up the base lol?

So what if Obama didn't give a crap about gay marriage until the polls indicated he ought to? In fact, if your a man wanting to marry another man why do you care if Obama was cynically using an issue to get some votes?

Instead of speculating about Trump's motives why don't you advocate for more democrats to stand up for the anthem as a way to get the Rust Belt back? It beats letting Trump beat you to the issue every time.

Trump could walk out onto 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and his supporters would not care.

He can brag about grabbing women's pussies and his base will see it as a positive aspect of his persona.

He can cheat small business people out of money he owes them for services they provided and his base will shrug.

He can swindle gullible real estate mogul wannabes via a fake "university" and his base won't bat an eyelid.

And on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and.....

do you have polls to support the claim that the majority of independents who voted for him would not do so again?.......even if it were true, it doesn't matter until November, 2020.....because Quinipiac's polls last week show Congress has lost the support of 81% of independents and 83% of Republicans.....

Division & conflict are good for Trump. This is how he ran his campaign - pit groups against one another, create distractions, divide.

It's just delusional for anyone to think this is in the same ballpark as good leadership. Trump is the opposite of what a leader should be.
