Don't know the real meaning of our national anthem. Please read these words from it.

........ and the rockets red glare

........ the bombs bursting in air

........ gave proof through the night

........ that our flag was still there.

This represents the courage, stamina, and resilience of the American people who when faced with adversity and with the odds stacked against them always bounce back and obtain victory in the end.

I can't imagine these players are being taught anything close to this in these universities they come out of, can you?
 
They are not taught anything today at the University level; they are indoctrinated with the stupidity that permeates within the left that AmeriKa is bad and unjust and the Konstitution was written by a bunch of racist white dudes. :rofl2:

Dissent, taking a stand for equal rights, fighting for justice - these are all things that have made & continue to make America great, and which the flag stands for as well.

We should celebrate the open & courageous expression of opinions, even when we disagree w/ them.

Dear dunce; I am not concerned with what a company does or does not do. I am just suggesting that if the NFL is not going to give a shit about their POLICIES, then they should revoke them and let players display their blatant ignorance on the field at will.

I can agree w/ some of that, but I just thought that the Prez inserted himself in a way that wasn't really necessary. It was an issue that was really dying on its own, and he made it a big deal again. It would be completely out of the news at this point had he not commented the way he did.

As for the time & place, I've heard some sentiments on here and elsewhere that they could have found a more "acceptable" or palatable form of protest. To me, that kind of defeats the purpose, at least sometimes. Sometimes, protestors are most effective when they make news and really get people talking, and "safe/acceptable" means of protest often don't achieve those ends.

For the sake of discussion the argument from a black perspective is the third stanza (?) which usually doesn't get sung. The claim is it is racist against them.
