I would want a ban on the manufacture and import of the type of weapon this man used, the only exceptions being for the tightly controlled use of the police and military. I would want the ones that are manufactured or imported to have technology that would render them inoperable if they are modified to make them more automatic.

I would want background checks that would prohibit mentally ill people from legally having access to guns. I would want very strict laws punishing those who provided access to individuals without the proper background checks.

I tell you like my dad told me when I was a kid and said I wanted something:

What about those mentally ill that obtain guns illegally such as stealing? What type of background check do they go through? Who determines what makes someone mentally ill? What are the standards used to make that determination?

What will be your excuse when someone purchases guns legally and does this type of thing, more laws that won't work?

Why don't you be a man and simply say you want an outright ban on guns? At least you'd be honest.
