Joe Biden - "Time to put Trump in the bullseye."
The cynics told us all the "devastation" caused by maria has been wildly exaggerated by PR in order to get the debt cancelled .

oct 4 2017 US President Donald Trump said that Puerto Rico’s $74 billion debt would have to be wiped out to help the island recover from the catastrophic damage caused by Hurricane Maria that he witnessed during his visit.

“We’re going to work something out. We have to look at their whole debt structure. You know they owe a lot of money to your friends on Wall Street and we’re going to have to wipe that out. You’re going to say goodbye to that, I don’t know if it’s Goldman Sachs but whoever it is you can wave goodbye to that,” Trump told Fox News, according to Reuters.

If he is truly going to erase their debt, good for him, but I suspect he is lying again.

This is nothing more than the racist right trying to blame Dems and the woman mayor for the situation in PR.

If it's not a racist white man running the show, they think all hell is raining down.

It's going to take a bailout..maybe not forgiving all the debt -but close to it.
There is little economic activity left to even pay current bills -and they are already bankrupt

Maybe trump should bail out PR. That way they'll stay there where they can't vote. If they come to the states they will all go on welfare and vote for the welfare party.

If he is truly going to erase their debt, good for him, but I suspect he is lying again.

Already proven that he lied .. as usual.

That Trump lied is not news .. but guess what happened after he said it?

Puerto Rico’s bonds tumble after Trump comments on*debt

The price of Puerto Rico’s general obligation bonds plummeted as much as 25 percent on Wednesday after President Trump said investors in the US territory’s debt will have to “wave goodbye” to ever getting repaid.

“We’re gonna have to wipe that out,” Trump told Fox News after he toured some of the devastation on the island wrought by Hurricane Maria.

That’s gonna have to be — you know, you can say goodbye to that. I don’t know if it’s Goldman Sachs but whoever it is, you can wave goodbye to that.”

Puerto Rico is suffering under a massive $74 billion pile of debt and its governor last year said it had no means to repay it.

“You know they owe a lot of money to your friends on Wall Street,” Trump told a Fox News reporter late Tuesday after the market had closed.

The comments sent GO bonds due in 2035 down as much as 25 percent, to 33 cents, in Wednesday morning trading, its biggest one-day drop ever.

That’s less than half the 73¹/₂-cent price the bonds were worth on Feb. 28.

The bond’s insurers also felt the pain of Trump’s comments.

MBIA, in late Wednesday morning trading, saw its shares fall 9.7 percent. Ambac was down 4.2 percent, and Assured Guaranty was down 3.1 percent at 10:50 a.m.
