We know he's a lunatic, but it's the stalwarts who continue to defend this stuff who I find mystifying.
What good is coming out of this? They talk about it like it's only the "rich owners and rich, spoiled players" who will be hurt, but there are countless jobs & businesses tied into the NFL's fortunes. And we have a leader who is encouraging a boycott, all for ego.

I thought boycotting something you oppose is a good thing? I know I am boycotting. Will it matter? I did watch my favorite team, but I didn't watch any other game including Sunday and Monday night. First time ever that has happened.
Sorry, but this is a phony controversy. Those who are kneeling can't even agree on what they are kneeling about. They have no goals. What exactly are they trying to accomplish? Some say "increasing awareness"? Great, there are other venues for that. People don't tune in to NFL games to have their awareness increased. Just because you think you have a captive audience doesn't mean you have the right o shove shit down their throats
The early results are in and it is bad for the NFL. Hell Trump is more popular than Roger Goodell right now.
The NFL may get a mulligan for this past weekend because they can chalk it up to being mad at Trump. If they pull this shit next weekend, it will do lasting harm to their brand. Ask Baseball how hard it is to recover from that.
They never recovered from their ill advised strike. The NFL may never recover from this.
And to be clear, I predicted the downfall of the NFL last year and people scoffed. I am so far ahead of my time it isn't even funny

In general, I oppose boycotts, and I've been pretty consistent on that w/ both left & right causes. I think they are too broad and ham-handed, like this one - people want to punish the players and now the owners, but they're hurting a LOT of middle class workers and other business owners in the process.
And pretty much everyone has been predicting the downfall of the NFL, Nostradamus. CTE is hurting the game at all levels, and has been for the past few years.
