acing legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. is apparently not on board with NASCAR owners’ threats to drivers to not take part in protests against police brutality that take place during the national anthem.
On Twitter Monday morning, Earnhardt Jr. expressed his support for the right of all Americans to engage in nonviolent protests — and he shared a quote from John F. Kennedy in which he said that, “those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”

Over the weekend, multiple NASCAR owners said they would fire drivers who took a knee during the national anthem, and Trump on Monday tweeted out his approval of their threatened crackdown on protests.
“‘So proud of NASCAR and its supporters and fans,” the president wrote. “They won’t put up with disrespecting our Country or our Flag – they said it loud and clear!”

That's what this is supposedly about, Travon? Y'all need better marketers, because most of America see this as disrespect for our military, and the country as a whole.

Anyone who sees it as "disrespect for the military" is just seeing a headline or hearing talk radio. They are woefully misinformed or uninformed.

You mean that I'm not seeing it in the context that you desire.

Perhaps these overpaid fools should get together and hire a PR firm, who would undoubtedly tell them to find a more appropriate venue where their "message" wouldn't be so easily misconstrued.

Who are you to say what people see it as? Are you saying that the only way these athletes can protest is kneeling during a ceremony that means a lot to many different people? Who are you to determine how people interpret what they are doing?

These athletes are making their bed they can lie in it. You say they don't care? They will care if it hits their bottom line. I don't know if it will or not, time will tell on that.

Nobody is saying they can't protest so those of you who claim that are the ones who are mis/uninformed. However, they shouldn't expect validation for the way they are choosing to protest. And the fact remains that if an owner chooses to shut them down, it is within that owners rights to do so.

Let me give you a couple of examples.

1) Let's say you are a a company meeting where you CEO is getting up to say a few remarks. Would you take a knee in front of everybody to show you support for BLM and cop killers? It would be within your first amendment rights to so. But, it would also be within your company's rights to discipline and fire you for it
2) What if you were a salesperson and took a meeting on one knee?

Personally I wish politics weren't being drug into professional sports, but it is the hand we have been given.

What I find interesting is that good ole Colin Kaepernick who got this thing started is nowhere to be found lately. I don't see him out there with Antifa or BLM protesting or marching. Apparently his balls for protesting is just taking a knee.

Why don't you tell everyone how they should see it then since you are so much smarter than everyone else and everyone should see things as you see them

And if I'd have asked you yesterday what you thought of Dale Jr's opinion? let me guess?

Fact is you need to stand for something consistent, not sure you have it in you, but just a suggestion.

The whole reaction to what the NFL is doing is a classic "love it or leave it" mentality. Dissent is what made & continues to make this country great, and should be celebrated.

Now, the opinions being expressed may tick you off, and you may disagree w/ them vehemently - but offer more compelling opinions. Win your case in the marketplace of IDEAS.

And no - telling someone to shut up isn't an idea. Just saying "I don't want to hear your opinion and I don't want you to express yourself" isn't an idea.

It's funny that you pretend to know my motivation. Since I'm not an NFL fan I don't care what these assholes do, say, or think. But what you, and they, seems to forget, is that they are selling an expensive, time-consuming product that no one needs. And they are doing a very bad job of it to date.

I don't know him nor the players on the field but as a real American I support their rights........UNLIKE SOME aka you..:)

Well, that's a question of quality. Up until yesterday, the play on the field was pretty poor, and the games were boring.

If people choose to boycott the NFL because of this, I just feel sad for them. Obviously, it's their right, but I wish they could embrace the opposing point of view and offer opinions of their own, instead of just trying to shut it down.

America doesn't benefit when we are some sort of conformist nation. I hate so many opinions on the right, but I would never want to just shut them down. I want everyone talking & expressing themselves to the fullest.
