California lawmakers pass Sactuary State bill

What happens when a state law contradicts a U.S. federal law?

...State laws only govern the citizens within a particular state, but federal laws apply to all U.S. citizens. When state and federal laws clash, think of the federal law as the trump card. In theory, a state law that goes against federal law is null and void, but in practice, there's a bit more of a gray area. What it really comes down to is enforcement.
If a state defies federal law, but the federal government doesn't enforce its law in that state, is federal law really the trump card?...

The Doctrine of Pre-emption and The Supremacy Clause

...The law that applies to situations where state and federal laws disagree is called the supremacy clause, which is part of article VI of the Constitution. The supremacy cause contains what's known as the doctrine of pre-emption, which says that the federal government wins in the case of conflicting legislation. Basically, if a federal and state law contradict, then when you're in the state you can follow the state law, but the fed can decide to stop you.
The operative term here, though, is "can."
...

What federal law says locals have to perform the duties of federal immigration authorities?

So you are okay with state's ignoring federal laws they disagree with? How about abortion, and gay marriage? Are you okay with states ignoring SCOTUS ruiling and federal laws because they don't like it?

Non-answer.

What federal law says your local PD has to perform the duties of federal immigration authorities?

Ca has a lot going for itself, banning fois gras and puppy mills, but as a state of the union, they shouldn't be able to defy federal laws. If what they are doing is legal, we might as well declare anarchy and go back to the days of taking justice into ones own hands at whim.

not only no, but hell fucking no. we the people have the right of jury nullification, therefore if we the people determine a federal law exceeds or supercedes the federal powers granted to it by the states and we the people, we the people can nullify with a not guilty verdict.

Good. I don't want my state taxes subsidizing the federal quest to roust poor, hard working, menial wage earning migrants by using a thin state police force that should be catching violent criminals.

but you're a fucking federal state loving hypocrite who thinks that the feds should be able to tell people in states what kind of guns they can own and what they cant.

Then you must also agree that waiting periods for buying guns is a limit on the 2nd amendment right to bear arms?

Sounds to me more like you have a problem that people don't openly accept abortion. Give her a coat hanger is she doesn't want to wait.
bye bye!

Run like the typical coward, bitch.

If she uses the coat hanger with as much vigor as she fights for the right to kill the result of having spread her legs, we won't have to worry about her wanting another abortion.
