Really good questions .. and the truth as I see it is that the answers to those really good questions will require focus on policy that works, not ideology.

My own story speaks to education as the obvious answer .. with the recognition that everyone isn't meant to go to college. However, the path of education does not always pass through the college door.

My suggestion .. invest heavily in education and results based-policies.

There is no cost-free solution to this problem.

If I had start up money, I would start a vertical farm in Detroit. Offer training to locals to work in the industry.
Giving people education, a skill, a trade is what keeps poverty at bay, you are so correct.

They are really good questions with a stunningly obvious answer.

If the policy only seeks to ease people's pain while in poverty---not only is it costly, but more poverty will be the result. Human nature, and all that.

But policy geared toward the creation of jobs will make 'easy poverty' a less attractive option. Furthermore, once people start coming off government dole and working and paying taxes, government benefits.

The term for it is 'winning again' because everybody wins.

I'll take the unit farthest away from the stacked steer, slaughterhouse and rendering areas. And can you teach them to focus on smoked beef brisket? It's my favorite cut lately.

The flaw in Waco's argument is he is blaming liberals for the high cost of living in Cali. It's a specious argument.
