"Who doesn’t love a parade? To a city that already offers many, President Donald Trump wants to add one that showcases U.S. military might."

"It would take place on July 4 in Washington with, as Trump envisions it, tanks and planes rolling down and streaking above Pennsylvania Avenue."

Isn't this the type of thing nations with authoritarian governments do to scare their populace?

I'd have to say the majority of Americans would prefer the parades that "typically involve marching bands and uniformed elements, not the grand display of military hardware that Trump envisions."

If you know you have it there is no reason to flaunt it

You are such a fucking dishonest POS.

Oh, oh, someone is getting pissed, over a parade no less

How can you argue that most Americans would rather see the traditional Fourth of July parade rather than a Soviet style military spectacle? Seen one tank, you've seen them all, they hit their point of diminishing returns quickly

There is a reason why such a type of parade isn't part of America's traditions

The troops also deserve a day off, the cost is not justified, we don't need a parade to show off our strength.
