Police arrested and charged illegal alien Fernando Enriquez, 15, with homicide. He is accused of killing Flagstaff resident Jacob M. Allen, 20, who was shot and killed in the men’s bathroom of the rec center.
Enriquez is being charged as an adult and was booked into Coconino County Jail.
Enriquez, whose name was not made public in earlier reports, was also shot during the incident. Police said he fled the scene but was identified and taken to Flagstaff Medical Center. He arrested directly after his release from FMC.
Allen was found by rec center staff, who immediately began unsuccessful lifesaving attempts before the arrival of police and emergency personnel.
Police have confirmed that two firearms were involved in the incident, but only one has been found. Police have not publicly identified the owner of the found handgun and are asking for assistance in finding the second firearm.
The police report did not state the reason for the shooting, or why Allen and Enriquez were in the bathroom at the same time. However, police have confirmed that the crime was not a random act and no further suspects are being sought.

U.S. Border Patrol arrested a convicted murderer and a child molester as they tried to enter the country illegally.
Agents said they arrested Miguel Angel Flores-Jimenez and Miguel Castro-Santiago, both from Mexico, as they tried crossing the Rio Grande on Thursday, authorities said.
Castro-Santiago had been previously arrested and convicted for second-degree murder in Montgomery County, Kansas. In 2005, he was sentenced to prison and ultimately deported after completing his sentence in 2013.

They're never late, always hustle and come in on days off to learn new skills, traits that he says make them a model for their Mexican counterparts.
They are among several thousand Haitians who came to Mexico's northwest corner hoping to cross the border before the U.S. abruptly closed its doors last year.
In a country whose population is 1 percent black, Tijuana's Haitians stand out. They share tight living quarters, sending much of their meager wages to support family in Haiti. Haitians earn far less than they would in the United States but enough to forsake the risk of getting deported by heading north.
Two new Haitian restaurants downtown serve dishes with mangoes and mashed plantains. Dozens of Haitian children attend public schools. Factories that export to the U.S. recruit Haitians, who can also be found waiting tables and worshipping at congregations that added services in Creole.
"It's the Mexican dream for many of them," Millan said.
Millan, who lived in the Los Angeles area for two decades, was forced to leave last year for employing dozens of people illegally at his party planning company.
The Haitians took an accidental route from their impoverished Caribbean homeland to Tijuana, a city of about 2 million that borders San Diego and also has large pockets of Chinese and Korean immigrants.
Brazil and its neighbors took in the Haitians after that country's 2010 earthquake. As construction jobs for the 2016 Summer Olympics ended and Brazil descended into political turmoil, they crossed 10 countries by plane, boat, bus and on foot to San Diego, where U.S. authorities let them in on humanitarian grounds.
Then Obama shifted course and started deporting Haitian arrivals. Many decided to call Mexico home.

The United States today filed civil denaturalization complaints in federal court in the Middle District of Florida, District of Connecticut and District of New Jersey, against three individuals who allegedly obtained their naturalized U.S. citizenship by fraud, the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced.
Two Pakistan-born and one India-born individuals’ alleged frauds involved concealing their prior orders of exclusion and deportation under different identities than the identity under which they naturalized.
“The Justice Department is committed to preserving the integrity of our nation’s immigration system, and in particular, the asylum and naturalization processes,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Chad A. Readler of the Justice Department’s Civil Division. “The civil complaints charge that defendants in these cases exploited our immigration system and unlawfully secured the ultimate immigration benefit of naturalization. The filing of these cases sends a clear message to immigration fraudsters – if you break our immigration laws, we will prosecute you and denaturalize you.”
The three cases, United States of America v. Parvez Manzoor Khan (M.D. Fla.); United States of America v. Rashid Mahmood (D. Conn.); and United States of America v. Baljinder Singh (D.N.J.) were referred to the Department of Justice by USCIS and identified.
A Department of Homeland Security initiative identified about 315,000 cases where some fingerprint data was missing from the centralized digital fingerprint repository. Among those cases, some may have sought to circumvent criminal record and other background checks in the naturalization process. These cases are the result of an ongoing collaboration between the two departments to investigate and seek denaturalization proceedings against those who obtained citizenship unlawfully.

Two teenagers have been charged with kidnapping and raping a classmate in a horrifying attack allegedly orchestrated by the victim's 13-year-old classmate.
El Salvadorian illegal immigrants Victor Antonio Gonzalez-Guttierres, 19, and Edgar Natanal Chicas-Hernandez, 17, were arrested after the victim told police she was grabbed while walking home from school, taken to an apartment and sexually assaulted.
Gonzalez-Guttierres and Chicas-Hernandez took turns raping the girl over the course of a few hours.
She told the cops the pair claimed they were acting on orders from a younger female acquaintance.

A 32-year-old illegal immigrant was charged with sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl after her father found the stranger in bed with her in the middle of the night, police say.
Edgar Mendoza, a citizen of Guatemala, allegedly broke into a home early Tuesday morning on Bayard Street in the Chambersburg section of Trenton, New Jersey, The Trentonian reported.
Police say that the child's father noticed that a light had been turned off upstairs and went to investigate.
The concerned father walked into his daughter's room to find Mendoza in her bed, authorities say.
Mendoza leaped up and then jumped from a second-floor window and fled on foot.
