Wacko I lived in Charlotte and visited Atlanta often. You're simply wrong. Blacks are moving to those areas because of what they have built there and not because of the problems you have there. Trust me on this and go visit an upper middle class black community in Atlanta. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why blacks are immigrating there from all over the country. It's not refugees from the ghettoes. It's the best and the brightest.

Dude...Bay Area blacks represent an infinitesimally small number of the blacks moving there. Most of the Blacks I know moved there to leave Northern segregated urban ghettos for middle class suburban communities with a cultural background they comfortable in.

However, Cypress (or was it BAC?) is spot on right. A significant percentage of the GOP coalition are openly racist and far right true believers commit the most politically motivated acts of violence and terrorism in the last 30 + years than any other extremist groups in our nation. Far more than far left extremist have in that time. In fact violent acts by far left extremist in that time period are almost statistically insignificant compared to those committed by the far right. This a problem for the GOP as their silence and tolerance of them in their midst leads to the misperception that all conservatives are either bigoted or extremist. The GOP has no one to blame but themselves for that.

Dude, I was speaking to west coast progressive cities. That's what I stated. I wasn't speaking about blacks who live in the Midwest or east coast. You don't follow real estate at all if you think cost of living is the same in Ohio as SF, LA, Portland or Seattle

Didn't catch you specified west coast areas. I just want to make sure you understand that they represent a small percentage of the Blacks immigrating to the region and for most Blacks who have moved there cultural and community reasons are the deciding factors and economic ones are secondary not exactly secondary but are not exactly at the top of the list either.

It's actually an excellent cultural learning experience to visit the suburban majority Black communities in these Southern Cities. It will dispel any preconceived notions one may have. If you're open minded and I'm sure you are.

I don't recall anywhere else in life, where dudes (mostly rightwing dudes) call women cunts and cuss at them like sailors. And I don't think it is my old world Russian upbringing, I can't even recall any dudes I know in real life using the word "cunt".

The Bay Area and LA had huge black populations. Oakland was 50% black when we moved there in '81. Black people didn't leave Oakland looking for black culture, they had it.

Ohio is the best state in the Union but you just don't understand or have to deal with the cost of living issues we do and the role it plays in people's decisions to move here or leave. Black folks have been leaving here because of cost of living and economic opportunity

While we're sharing anecdotes, I'm not a WV Native so I'm not a true hillbilly. I was born in PA and lived in a suburb of Cleveland when I was young.

And you know what? That suburb in your state was, easily, the most racist environment I've ever had the privilege to experience.

With the anecdotes out of the way, your thinking on this is so far out of whack it's not a wonder you see racists everywhere you turn. If what you say is true, borders are racist constructs, because borders keep 'the other' out. That's why we have borders, right?

To keep people from other places, that don't share our culture and values, out. You should go visit Western Europe and see how the no border lunacy is working out.
