New hurricane to follow

Stretch, Diva, Noise, Jarod,

Stay away from the windows. Keep a way out of the house clear from anything. Do not be fooled by the eye of the hurricane. It will get stormy, really stormy then flat calm. Do not think it is over. When the wall comes around it will be just as bad.

Mariners have an old saying, when you are end of your line, tie on another one. You will be fine. Keep a calm head. I have faith in you all to do the right things.
Thanks, Captain.

I like the lingo there Salty! Would you believe I am heading down to FL? Was asked to Captain a big Jesus salvage tug. The other Cap had a heart attack. Should be on station Sat morning around 0900. 274 foot, 2500 tons. She can handle any seas, equipped to handle anything. I will wave at you all.

Cat 2 still sounds about correct for Orlando > northward. For those below Okeechobee, it will certainly be catastrophic.
wow..this is definately the "for real" time coming up.

I'm at a lull in the storm. I need to do my FTC affinity certification for Live Ops.
Might as well dig in now

Yeah, you'll be OK on that tug. Sorry to hear of the circumstances, though. Where's she docked?

Now, you've got me digging around a chest I have with all of dad's stuff. Great old 'brown' pictures of his cargo ship (Vincent) in 1941. Before mailing it back home he wrote on the back, "docked at Zambales, P.I., loading chrome, the biggest chromite deposit in the world."

Right on top of his things, still in its wall frame is what I'm guessing may of been one of his last licenses. He died in 1974.
It says:
United States Coast Guard
License
To U.S. Merchant Marine Officer
His name
yada, yada, yada....
Master, steam and motor vessels of any gross tons, upon oceans----------------------
Also first class pilot, Delaware Bay and river to Philadelphia, PA;
Chesapeake Bay and Patapsco river between Baltimore, MD and Cape Henry, VA.

Port - Miami, FL
Signed - 9th day of December 1971

"Sail on, sail on"

I knew there was something good in your bloodline! Your father, that salt, was a long legged sailor. That is a real compliment by the way. A first class pilot also? Impressive. That is a very honored and respected title. You have that kind of heritage coursing through your veins, you are going to sail right through this no problem.

The Tug I am running is registered overseas. She was towing a vessel from Europe to a large drydock in Charleston SC. After she dropped that tow she went to NYC to bunker up and attend to some ships business for future work. That is where the other Capt had his heart attack. That is where I picked her up and am currently enroute south.

STRETCH:

FTC affinity certs are a bitch - all new material, see my post on Live OPs forum. Give yourself plenty of time.
It took me 4 hours without taking a break
++

Running back and forth from house to house trying to get all her stuff in here.
By tomorrow I should be able to be ready

WOW! I just read your LO post. What a nightmare. I gave up all sales lines months ago. I'm done with mental gymnastics and just happily sticking PH and HR and whenever they toss me some telethon/donation lines. After all that, a hurricane should now be a cakewalk for you, LOL!

Dad was special alright. The kindest gentlest soul I've ever known. It wasn't long after that photo and a week after Pearl Harbor was attacked that the Japanese sunk the Vincent (he was the CO on that particular run), took all the guys captive and began a 4 month 'cruise' in the hold to the POW camp in Shanghai. Lived through it, came back to the States, met the woman of his dreams, married, moved to Miami, had me and lived the rest of his life peacefully running sightseeing boats 6 days a week happy as a clam :). I rode along with him almost every Saturday and almost every day during summer vacation since age 7. He loved being a Skipper and I loved being his "CO". By the time I was 10 he let me start going out on the bow and jump off on the dock with the line and secure the boat. He'd always pat me on the head and say, "Not bad for girl."

I still have his binoculars, sextant and protractor...and his daily log tablets he kept faithfully during his capture. And, he made another notebook precisely and neatly filled with the Japanese alphabet, words and phrases. Guess he figured he might as well learn the language while he was there. Typical Quaker...we're big on education, LOL. I can't wait to see him again. There's a sea of glass in Heaven you know? No more wars, no hidden reefs, no more cancer. Clear sailing now. :)

So, clear sailing for you, too. Remember to throw up that wave! And, I heard that Mad Dog Mattis sent 4 Navy ships down off the south Florida coast. The plan is to get in there and get out before Jose gets in the area. When that one clears out the ships will go back in there with more help, supplies, etc. Go Mad Dog and Go Navy!!

Irma's been hugging the northern coastline of Cuba since yesterday and has dramatically decreased it's power. It should increase again though as it travels over water to enter Florida on the SW edge of the state around 2pm, tomorrow Sunday 9/10. Then continue up the west coast through Tampa/St. Pete as a Cat4.

I am praying for the people of Cuba and the other islands who already devastated by this storm, and I pray that further damage will be minimal.

Thank God for the County officials who have ordered mandatory evacuations of the areas where loss of life was most probable upon landfall, and for the Governor of Florida and our noble President who reinforced the message - get yourselves to safety.

Houston was less blessed. Their leadership failed, sadly.

Appears that Key West will take the first blow from the hurricane. Man, I hope they all evacuated. :(

I saw someone claim that Rush Limbaugh told people not to evacuate, so any fatalities will be his fault entirely.

Many people of Florida who believe Rush, and as a result resist the orders to evacuate will die ...Will Rush apologize to their families and the media who were trying to save them for creating his "fake news"?

Despite mandatory evacuation, many on this Florida island plan to ride out the storm
Rush is telling everyone, that will listen to him, that Irma is a lie created by the "deep state" and Home Depot to take their money and promote global warming... Many believe him... Many will stay... Many will die... Their blood will be on his hands...

:palm:
