"Trump: Tax reform can create ‘millions of jobs"

The most fair tax scheme of all would be a national sales tax that exempts food, clothes, and homes. You could eliminate the IRS and you would create tax payers out of the underground and cash economy. States could collect it and more importantly you would decrease the power of the federal government.

It would be a regressive tax, there is a reason the Income Tax started as a progressive tax, and fall way short of meeting necessary Gov't funding

Did you miss "1960" tax rates, or the post implying today relates to the JFK era/action?

And yes deductibles were rampart, as they are today, you didn't really think corporations actually pay anywhere near what the code rate dictates did you?

Neither do individuals. That is why the entire tax code needs to go and implement a national sales tax.

The issue isn't taxation but spending. Apparently you think any level of spending is OK.

If sales taxes are so regressive and supposedly hurt the po you care so much about then why do individual states employ them? Why do so many lefty states have some of the highest sales taxes.

The topic post is taxation, and with a Republican Congress just about to increase the debt ceiling spending seems to be a conservative issue dependent upon who occupies the White House

Some states do, others do not, and State budgets/spending is completely different than the Federal situation

Have you ever seen the deductions from then ?
Nobody paid those rates.

As they don't today, you didn't really think corporations, with an army of accountants and attorneys, actually pay the supposedly crippling rate dictated by current tax law did you?

and that's a great use of capital and resources and such a benefit to productivity isn't it that it doesn't need to be reformed at all

What investments are you referring to? The only benefit of lower taxes is greater profits, which helps one investors not the workers.

Look at these sales tax rates

Now you stated that these taxes are regressive and hurt the poor. Why would these most liberal states hurt the poor?

So you are saying you want to bring back the entire tax code of the 1950s? All of it?

No one is advocating a return to the 50's.........

The evil gubment also needs money to fix the potholes in front of your house, bridges etc........ They aint going to fix themselves........

Corps need to be part of that, not just hiding their assets overseas to avoid paying their share........

Lower taxes, plug loopholes, whatever............

Actually many do advocate that. Ye old pot hole argument again?

Almost $4 trillion dollar budget for potholes?

Oh yeah the arts. Can't have art without gobblement.

And agriculture. Lordy knows there would be zero plants and no food without gobblement

Oh I forgot energy. Remember Dept of Energy? Cahta created it to ,wait for it, reduce our dependency on foreign oil.

Yup we would have zero energy without gobblement

I teach welding at a vocational school, and all I know is, I've had 4 employers come to my class looking for apprentices in the first six months of the Trump administration. That may not seem like many, but it's a 100% increase over the entire EIGHT YEARS of the obama error. There is definitely something going on and I don't think it's business gleefully anticipating a return to obamanomics or "democratic socialism".

Trades. Not enough tradesman out there. The work is there, the work force ( younger folks) is not. Those kids are going to do well.

JFK wasn't president in 1960.

The issue becomes where to "reduce and simplify," as the intial post implies, cutting tax on top with an anticipation it will "trickle down" has been proven useless

well, if you start with the premise that it is impossible to reduce zero, simply reduce taxes for everyone above the current zero.....that's Trump's starting point, isn't it?.....
