I wanted the monuments gone long before it became trendy, and will continue to after people get off the bandwagon. That said, I do think that municipalities will continue to quietly remove foreign monuments.

Most cities that had Confederate statues in prominent places like city parks and in front of govt buildings have removed them.

Here where I live, they took down the old "Johnny Reb" statue that had been put up by the Daughters of the Confederacy and stood at the entrance to the city's centerpiece downtown park for over 100 years. They simply moved it a mile or so away to an old cemetary that has a Civil War memorial section and put it back up there. Anyone who wants to can go visit it and pay homage or whatever. Those who don't wish to see it can stay away.

Everyone's happy.

Those statues are as inappropriate on govt buildings and in city parks as religious statues and icons or the Ten Commandments on the walls of courthouses.

The 18-21 August poll found that 54% of adults said Confederate monuments “should remain in all public spaces”, while 27% said they “should be removed from all public spaces”. Another 19% said they “don’t know”.

The only way to account for the discrepancy is to surmise that local officials fear the prospect of leftist thugs showing up in their towns and either tearing the statues down, or worse, drawing Nazis out from under the rocks and having a repeat of Charlottesville.

Nobody wants to deal with all that, so they take them down. You Crusaders may be getting their way, but it's not the way you win national elections.

With poll numbers like those, political blowback is almost certain.

That big lie was the catalyst for numerous police assassinations. All because a cop defended himself against an obese, waste-of-oxygen thug. Now? It's as forgotten as what you had for lunch last week.

It wasn't a lie, and the rigged grand jury knows it. The cop killings are unfortunate, and unproductive. But they aren't being perpetrated solely due to the Mike Brown case. They're happening because rogue cops across the nation are getting away with murder. Shame that the murderers aren't being targeted, as opposed to innocent cops.


The statue trauma still exists across the racist South, but the Nazis/racists have taken a back burner in the news since Houston flooded.

95% of white soldiers voted against allowing blacks to serve alongside them. They lost that battle.

America has checks/balances against a strict majority rule. These flags/statues are coming down/being moved, and there's nothing the supposed 'majority' can do about it.

Unfortunately, we had a "President" who sanctioned cop-killings and sent dog whistles from the White House. Cop killers were treated to steak dinners at the White House.

But we have that problem no longer as he is gone forever.

Nope...it happened, along with countless other murders. Hopefully, innocent cops won't pay the price for rogue prosecutors protecting rogue cops.
