Here where I live, they took down the old "Johnny Reb" statue that had been put up by the Daughters of the Confederacy and stood at the entrance to the city's centerpiece downtown park for over 100 years. They simply moved it a mile or so away to an old cemetary that has a Civil War memorial section and put it back up there. Anyone who wants to can go visit it and pay homage or whatever. Those who don't wish to see it can stay away.

Everyone's happy.

Those statues are as inappropriate on govt buildings and in city parks as religious statues and icons or the Ten Commandments on the walls of courthouses.

There are more than 700 statues and 1,500 other places or things that commemorate a southern hero.

It was never about tearing them down and destroying them. Most if not all of them will remain standing, they'll just remain standing somewhere other than where they were.

You want to claim some kind of stupid victory by saying your precious anti-American redneck statues are still standing, when the goal was never to permanently take them down to begin with. So you didn't "win" anything.

Many if not most of them are just getting moved to less public places and away from govt buildings.
