These are definitely some tough people by and large from what I see watching the news. Their homes and cars are underwater, neighborhoods taking care of each other, no complaining, no panic, no "woe is me", they get rescued by others with boats and big trucks with just the clothes on their backs and then start volunteering in the shelters they get taken to.
The opening video from WaPo in this link speaks volumes of their character and resolve. The hate-filled angry whiny spoiled protifas and neo-nazis should see how civilized society behaves.

As Panic Sets In People are Shooting at Rescue Boats

(CNN)As Harvey continues dumping rain on East Texas and the waters there continue to rise, people are starting to panic, rushing rescue boats and even shooting at them if they don't stop, said one volunteer rescuer.

Clyde Cain, of the Cajun Navy, a Louisiana-based rescue force that gained fame during Hurricane Katrina, said in one instance, a boat broke down, and while the crew sought shelter in a delivery truck, people tried to steal the inoperable boat.

"They're making it difficult for us to rescue them," he said. "You have people rushing the boat. Everyone wants to get in at the same time. They're panicking. Water is rising...

People anywhere - New Orleans Houston - of any color - white, black or brown - are going to panic in terrifying conditions like this, and bad shit is going to go down.

After this tragedy is over, I might think about writing about the nexus of this tragedy with zoning laws, lack of regulation, and climate change. Now is not the time.

Remember New Orleans, under a Democrat governor? And all the democrats in the Superdome rapin' and robbin' each other? And libs claim that all cultures are equal.

Zoning laws and lack of regulation? How so?

There's also been amazing acts of heroicism in Houston. I guess we can't even rally around that

Civilized individual "panic" is acceptable without whining and looting.

Later. Not in the mood to discuss partisan stuff, I have friends in Houston.

You are the one who interject politics into his thread. Perhaps you thought that no one would call you out. Why not just admit that you don't have the intellectual capacity to respond?

What is partisan about your response? We all know Houston has very loose zoning laws. How did that make this storm worse?

The storm wasn't worse. When everything is concrete/pavement, there's no place for the water to go. Except deeper.

Would there have been less pavement in Houston with better zoning laws? Is that the argument?

Why Houston Isn’t Ready for Harvey

The Texas Tribune ProPublica, August 25, 2017

The brunt of Hurricane Harvey is projected to miss Houston, but the sprawling metropolis is likely to face massive flooding from its third crippling storm in the past three years. It underscores a new reality for the nation’s fourth-largest city: Climate change is making such storms more routine.

Meanwhile, unchecked development in the Houston area is wiping out the pasture land that once soaked up floodwaters. Last year, we explored in detail how Houston’s rapid expansion has greatly worsened the danger posed by flooding.

What's partisan about that?

Nice rhetoric but I have seen reports the crazy muthas have been shooting at rescue boats that were rescuing other people instead of them first.
