Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor

Oh, hi
McGregor can't use any MMA style moves, only boxing. So does this prove that MMA fighters are superior to boxers when it comes to an all in all out fight?

Any predictions? I think Mayweather is going to win, since McGregor can only box.
 
I'm sure there are boxers who study MMA. Boxing is a specific style, and having a blackbelt in jujitsu, kung fu, karate, Muay Thai, FMA, Savat, Tae Kwon Do, etc., isn't an excuse for not being able to win at boxing.

I haven't seen the whole fight yet, just the final minutes of the KO and McGregor looked whooped.

I think for the money they were getting, Mayweather let it drag out and then went full "Rocky" on his ass in the 10th.
 
Boxing lost me and especially Mayweather. I didn't watch this fight but the last time I watched Mayweather it was the most boring fight I ever paid to watch. All the douchebag did was hug the other guy the whole match.
 
Boxers are superior athletes, and it showed.

They have more stamina and higher cardiovascular.

MMA fighters are brutes, boxing is a sport of precision.

McGregor has some of the fastest hands in all of MMA, but his hands were slower than a 40 year old Mayweather whose age had slowed him down considerably.

Hats off to both, it was a good fight.

The outcome wasn't to difficult to predict. McGregor is an excellent MMA fighter but his hand and food speed are slow at a championship boxing level. Not to mention he has poor inside boxing technique.

So Mayweather predictably tied him up in clinches and of the ropes and counterpunched until McGregor tired off, then t'd off on McGregor in rds 7 to 10.

What surprised me was McGregors lack of elite level cardio fitness.

In all it was another undwhelming Mayweather win.

Yea...he wins fights the smart way and doesn't take a lot of abuse but he's also boring to watch and he's never really challenged himself by taking on the best of the best at their best. Mayweather is an excellent boxer but I wouldn't compare him to the all time great pound for pound fighters

Agreed...the talent level at the top teir of MMA isn't at the same level as elite championship caliber boxers. I noted that McGregors hand an foot speed were pretty slow by boxing standards.

Simple ..

A. He doesn't need it

B. He's not an MMA fighter.

C. McGregor did it for the money and glory, but he never really had a chance at winning the fight save some fluke.

If you're having problems with my comment that boxers are better conditioned, then I'm afraid that you don't know much about either sport.

Additionally, boxers fight at better angles .. which was also obvious from the fight.

I'm not a boxer. I have a Nidan in Isshinryu and I've fought boxers. They are two distinctly different disciplines.

It's not my job to convince you of the differences in either sport.

Mayweather would lose to McGregor fighting MMA .. which is why he would never do it.

McGregor would lose to Mayweather any and every time he fought him boxing. He did it for the money and glory .. Mayweather already has plenty of both.

None of that changes the reality that boxers are better conditioned and fight at better angles .. both of which were glaringly OBVIOUS.

McGregor is bigger and younger than Mayweather .. he still lost.
