How did so many of today's students turn into snowflakes

An excellent question, why indeed?

Truth be told, quite a large minority of students have always been self-important pricks.

I generally couldn't abide students when i was a student. The amount of times i've been queuing up in a pub behind a group of ten students who insist on paying for each individual pint (or quite often a half - the lightweight m*****fuckers) with a cheque (or check for you Ameican sorts) does not bear thinking about. Nowadays this problem has been solved by the contactless payment but, on the other hand, they wear those incredibly stupid tight trousers and oversized shirts whilst spouting whichever political theory they think will get them some attention from their fruity female companions.

God, i feel old.

Charver, are you saying that twenty-somethings in England pay for stuff in public with cheques?

Yes that's right, and we also have to tug our forlocks and bow when meeting anybody from the landed gentry. One thing that does make me laugh though is old films where Americans ridicule Brits for drinking warm beer! Now you buggers are doing the exact same thing and acting as if you invented the idea.

1) Paying with cheques isn't exactly a baroque behavior, even if a bit dated.
2) The Irish have explained warm beer to me, well enough. I do feel as though it's a pride thing, at this point.

Yes but he neglected to tell you that all cheques had to be made from parchment paper and filled out using quill pens.

Well you saw what those snowflakes did to the Nazi's, Skin Heads and KKK in Charlottesville. LOL

OH For Pete's sakes Tom. I live a stone throw from one of the largest college campuses in the word where there may be a handful of hypersensitive ninnies in a Student body of nearly 60,000 and you're painting an entire generation as "snowflakes"?

Weak Tom.

Uh...we ain't quite there yet. I prefer mine about 40-45 deg F but not room temp unless the room is an igloo.

Yes and I live a stone's throw from two universities, so what? You seem to have missed the whole point of that article, whilst you may think they are but a handful of people, which I would vehemently dispute, they are the potential media types and politicians of the future. It is timely to remember that political correctness was spawned from the hippy movement back in the late 60s when that was a minority movement as well.

I might also point out that the article is written by a former lecturer at Oxford University, who might just know of which he speaks!

I am of course referring to bitters and cask beers, not lager, which should be cold.

Cask Ales

To experience all the smells and tastes that the brewer wants you to, cask ale must be dispensed at the correct temperature. If the beer is too warm unpleasant and unplanned aromas will be given off, too cold and the clean, fresh, vibrant tastes will be lost.

The recommended dispense temperature of the majority of brewers is between 11 – 13°C. Cask Marque audits to a required range of 10-14°C allowing a little leeway.

Some cask ales are meant to be dispensed at lower temperatures, particularly summer beers. These have been specially brewed in order that no chill haze occurs at temperatures where other cask ales might be affected.

University of East Anglia who took offence at what they saw as ‘cultural appropriation’ — or the act of using things from another culture — because a local Mexican restaurant handed out Sombreros.

Or the student activists at Sussex, who asked their fellows to stop using the pronouns ‘he’ and ‘she’ because they make ‘assumptions about identity’.
...

And still is. For example I love how the racist on JPP, and I'm not calling you one, hide their racism behind politically correct language so the won't be chided as the racist they are as it is now socially unacceptable to be openly racist. So spare me the false equivalency.

My point being is I'm not seeing the massive numbers of "snowflakes" on campus at all. Most are the same woolly patted nincompoops we were and more concerned with getting a good job, a pint o brew now an agin and talking Mary Jane Rotten Crotch out of her purtty pink panties.

Those are our political leaders of the future Tom. Some things never change.

Hmm, everybody that doesn't agree with cultural Marxists is seemingly labelled racist these days.

Yes all true sadly. Even Oxford University went slightly bonkers when they insisted that all male students attend rape awareness lectures and use jazz hands instead of clapping.
(according to the article) we sent this PC madness over to you.

You sent us the British invasion of rock and roll bands -we send you triggered snowflakes..
