The compensation crunch is so serious that the director has begun discussions with key lawmakers to raise the combined salary and overtime cap for agents, from $160,000 per year to $187,000 for at least the duration of Trump's first term.

trump doubled the membership fee on Mar-a-Lago right after his election, from $100K to $200K. All he needed was two new members to make back that $400K. No doubt there were plenty of rich cons who joined in the expectation of kissing his ring or touching the hem of his garment.

He's using the presidency to promote his brand. Who knows how many of his other golf clubs raised fees after the election? It's shameful.

Isn't that all Robin Hood like? Taking from the rich (members who willingly pay the fee) and giving it to the poor (not taking the money from the less fortunate tax payers)? We, the tax payers must pay, the members gave on their own accord.

Well that doesn't add up for me. Rich people can afford to pay the fee, poor people cannot, and trump is giving nothing to the poor. We discussed his "foundation" on this forum in depth last fall. trump is using the office of president to pimp his brand and rake in the bucks. And if we ever get to see his tax returns and they show otherwise, I'll eat my words.

He isn't taking tax payer money. I don't care about his tax returns, that is something for the IRS to address. I don't see how he has to pimp his brand. Plenty of suckuppers who pay willingly.

Of course he is. Why do you think the SS is now using trucks parked on fifth ave, instead of renting space in trump tower?
 
going beyond Trump. Logically speaking if the SS has to provide protection for each and every president and their family in perpetiuity (for good reasons) then their costs are logically going to exponentially increase with each president.

Agree. But trump's number one goal is to line his pockets by any means necessary. He collects rent from the Feds for each and every one of the properties he frequents.
