Why are civil war statues an issue today, but no one cared for 100 years

I've wanted them gone forever. Most posters who have been around for a while can attest to the things I have been saying about the south and the CSA for years.

But yeah, I have no doubt that many if not most of the protestors drove by them for years and never gave them a second thought.

Why weren't women allowed to vote for 150 years?
Why was the Second Amendment interpreted in the context of the militia until recently?
Why couldn't gays get married until the last couple of years?

This is the normal progression after the Confederate flag issue. It has nothing to do with caring. It has to do with state/local authority, and the statues have been scheduled for being moved. It's just that trump energized the Klan with his motivational speeches, so they now actively march without masks.
