Remake a 1970's film and be labeled a racist

A Death Wish remake,eh?

Frankly, i have to applaud the new and adventurous aproach of today's Hollywood executives. This new concept of "wronged man wreaks terrible violent revenge" is a theme which has been cruelly overlooked during the 43 years (doesn't that make you feel old?) since the original.

Hopefully, this will herald a groundbreaking renaissance of the creative scriptwriting process and we can, shortly, look forward to "the hard-drinking maverick cop battling a notoriously corrupt police department", "the hard-drinking maverick cop partnered with the straight-laced do-it-by-the-book detective", and "the hard-drinking maverick cop partnered with the kooky and loveable fast-talking ethnic minority".

(To answer Yurt's question - i have no idea if this is racist as i haven't seen the trailor, and have no interest in viewing it, but i suspect i'd probably come down on the side of "rubbish" rather than "racist")

I'd watch it just to see Elizabeth Shue, she is very under rated in my humble opinion.

They should also remake Dirty Harry as Dirty Harriet with the eponymous hero a white hetero man transitioning to a black lesbian.

Translation: I have somewhat of a life, but Yurt lives in my dreams, and I'll just continue dreaming about Yurt rather than responding to the topic.

Well, i did try to respond honestly.

I could have just done what everybody else does by either ignoring you or telling you to fuck off but i'm a nice sort of a chap, you see.

Actually there is still something of the old Yurt left in you, nobody else calls cowpats meadow muffins!

I like Yurt, he is ok certainly compared to out and out lunatics like Buckly, Domer, Nomad, TDAK and CFM.

He's ok compared to lunatics?

Damned with faint praise there, Tom.
No he's much better than that, his main fault is he is too tenacious. Not rabid dog-like, more like a dog with a bone or Columbo without the rain Mac. Ah sir, do you have a minute there's just one more thing!

What's up with all this recent remake nonsense. Are they too stupid to come up with new stuff? I don't care who they are, if they are too dense to be original, may be they are in the wrong business. Oh yeah, and another thing is that I want to be entertained by these overpayed buffoons.
If I want to be lectured or "educated", I watch a documentary. "Scandal", "Quantico", "Designated Survivor", how much more obvious and biased could they possibly be? And they complain about the Death Wish remake?

I like some remakes because you can see a modern version of a good film. Modern graphics etc.... For example the Planet of the Apes movies, I love the originals, had to house sit my aunt's cat while I was a freshman in college over Thanksgiving and I got some weed and binged watched all of them (there was a Thanksgiving marathon). I also like the modern ones, including Marky Mark's 2001 remake.

Though I don't think there are that many films that deserve a remake.

So Bruce Willis does a remake of Death Wish (Bronson original character) and because Willis happens to be WHITE, it has been labeled an alt right racist film.

I'm so sick of liberals with their cries of racism.

Bronson wasn't white?

Charver, can we clone you and trade your clone for Tom?
