China rebukes Trump: 'Emotional venting' is not policy

Trump's tweets and "emotional venting" aimed at China over the weekend can't serve as a substitute for substantive policy discussions, the country's state news agency said late Monday.

Xinhua New Agency responded critically following repeated statements by Trump on China's unwillingness to help fix the current standoff with North Korea.

"Trump is quite a personality, and he likes to tweet,” Xinhua said in an editorial, as reported by The New York Times. “But emotional venting cannot become a guiding policy for solving the nuclear issue on the peninsula.”

After North Korea tested an intercontinental ballistic missile Sunday, Trump wrote on Twitter that he is "very disappointed with China."

"Our foolish past leaders have allowed them to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year in trade, yet... .they do NOTHING for us with North Korea, just talk," Trump wrote Sunday. "We will no longer allow this to continue. China could easily solve this problem!":rofl2: :palm:

Xinhua's rebuke of Trump warns against using using China as a scapegoat for America's foreign policy challenges.

Tillerson gave a press today saying NK isn't our enemy, but they are acting in such a belligerent way we have no choice but to confront them.

Xi is typically Chinese 2 faced. I'm sure he gave assurances and then promptly trashed them

What are the assurances you are sure he gave??

I dunno, seems more Kabuki than assurances... :dunno: It seems more like his blustery false bravado & bull shit...

trump talked shit about them for years & then met up & thought he bamboozled Xi into taking on our problem but perhaps something was lost in the translation :whome: as not much really changed.....

China has largely maintained its trade ties with North Korea and so far, its actions have been more rhetorical than substantive.
It is difficult to quantify a "positive response." Whether the latest moves represent a sea shift that "no one has ever seen," or the logical conclusion of a longer pattern, probably lies in the eye of the beholder.

With North Korea, "nobody has ever seen such a positive response on our behalf from China."

No offense dude, but do you really need to try to take every issue to it's illogical & over stated conclusion??

Did you have something to actually add to the conversation??
