Putin claimed they are sapping Russia, is he wrong?
i'd have to see the quote, but of course sanctions do bite. Sanctions do obviously effect areas of the economy -but Europe is not part of this last round, Only the initial one's on Crimea.
Sanctions have no bearing on Putin's behavior as President of Russia.
They don't effect anything in terms of what he does .
Breaking up the bloated USSR was doable. It was spending but it was also the satellite states thirst for freedom.
That parallel is not the same with Russia today.
