Not even close. There was absolutely evidence of an international communist conspiracy. You need to read your history of Russia from the czars forward esp. since 1918. Please disambiguate this fact from McCarthy' exploiting and lists not supported by evidence in his waning years of influence.

Now compare this to the surgical allegations directed at Trump's election and a few of his staff which is not proven as to legal requirements of the criminal elements, but is under investigation by our government. What is going on now bears no resemblance unless one compares Trumps brain dead blandishments at the press to those of McCarthy. Futhermore, focus upon the coincidence of Russia does not withstand basic scrutiny either, as in no sense is Russia communist. Russia is not the ussr. This is simply another case of conservatives supporting a cleptocratic dictator as it so often has.

I didn't use McCarthyism as justification for shit. I simply demand some truth on historical fact. We fought a damn Cold War premised on the reality of a international communist movement. And it was not a joke that they had spies and there were in fact convictions for treason and espionage. That does not justify McCarthyism or the very different matter of Russian meddling in our election and the investigation of Trump and his amateur political apparatus being exploited by Putin. We aren't throwing around names of hundreds of citizens. This is surgical. It is directed at the Trump administrations neophyte cadre of useful idiots.

The odds of Putin launching an attack on this country are slim whereas the Soviets were actually dangerous.

The bottom line is the left is so desperate to make up for their 2016 election butt hurt they are willing to be led around by the nose by such ossified neocons as John McCain.
