My opinion on cwacky's Q is that is a very interesting debate. My opinion is that everyone would be better in a higher achieving school, even Bush or any AA advantaged person, than at a lesser school. I find it difficult to convince myself that anyone, the lesser pupil, or the greater, benefit from being in the lesser institution. So having resolved that I shift the question to "is it fair to give any slot to the lesser qualified candidate over the greater, and if so, how can that claim be made on an individual basis" I do not believe it can be. It can only be justified by categorizing individuals into classes that are relatively advantaged and disadvantaged and to argue good is being done in the larger scale. Injustice will be done in that enterprise on individual bases, no getting around it.
