To go back to the original question, all stereotypes are boring and evil, and have evil consequences. The stereotypical 'English' tory only has to hear I am what he calls 'Welsh' than he immediately stops all discussion to tell me I shag sheep, again and again and again and again and so on. This may save the mentally handicapped from discussion that hurts their heads, but I'm buggered if I can see why I should pay taxes to a government that permits this. 'Political correctness' is a weird fantasy. It seems to be a racist term for decent manners. Most of the UK has considerably better manners than London, actually - but I imagine nothing here can compare with the American backwoods, to judge by the posts.
