Ivanka & The POTUS: Helping Women

The future first female POTUS and her illustrious and victorious father, POTUS Donald Trump, have pledged $50...count 'em, 50...million dollars to help women entrepreneurs the world over.

I know all of us can set aside our political differences and raise a toast to this massive effort by our wonderful and big-hearted First Family.

Ivanka Trump and women: Trump pledges $50M to help women entrepreneurs

You make it sound like the Trump family is donating fifty million, it's taxpayers money, and the US isn't the only nation contributing

Well, some of us can set aside our political differences and recognize this wonderful and practical gesture to help women.

Did Obama donate the same amount for the same cause? I am asking. I just do not recall hearing about it.

Reminiscent of when The Don, a white man, won a Lifetime Achievement Award for helping black people. And now, as POTUS, he and his lovely daughter, the future first female POTUS, have teamed up in harmony to help so many women the entire world over.

Helping black people and women used to be the province of Democrats.

Has nothing to do with political differences, you mistakenly framed your post as if the Trumps were donating the money, which they are not, and, to put it in its' proper perspective, the President has also called for a two hundred million cut to programs that address world famine, tuberculosis, and malaria.

I'm feeling the love in the room. Salud!

Stop, your breaking our hearts, "his lovely daughter has teamed up in harmony to help so many women the entire world over" with American taxpayers dollars. Too funny

When was this?

I am not having much luck finding where Obama did something similar or where Michelle even pushed for something like this. Hmmmmm.

First off, it is a new program by the World Bank, and the Trump family didn't contribute anything, all the President did was pledge to send fifty million of taxpayers money.

The act would be the equivalent of President Obama contributing US dollars to famine relief and disease control, which was done in his Administration and just about every Administration since the 1950's

This is why it's a bad thing?

Proposed budget. Oh. You think it might have something to do with this?

Report: Cash-strapped UN health agency spends about $200 million a year on travel

LONDON -- The World Health Organization routinely spends about $200 million a year on travel -- far more than what it doles out to fight some of the biggest problems in public health including AIDS, tuberculosis or malaria, according to internal documents obtained by The Associated Press.

Malaria: A persistent global killer
China tests malaria drug on an entire African nation

As the cash-strapped U.N. health agency pleads for more money to fund its responses to health crises worldwide, it has also been struggling to get its own travel costs under control. Despite introducing new rules to try to curb its expansive travel budget, senior officials have complained internally that U.N. staffers are breaking the rules by booking perks like business class airplane tickets and rooms in five-star hotels.

Last year, WHO spent about $71 million on AIDS and hepatitis. On malaria, it spent $61 million. And to slow tuberculosis, WHO invested $59 million.
