How about you set aside your fascination with things rectal for a while, and read, for comprehension, if at all possible:

The phrases that follow — odd punctuation and all — ring with passion as Jefferson defined the impact of that long-ago choice [independence].

“may it be to the world what I believe it will be, (to some parts sooner, to others later, but finally to all) the Signal of arousing men to burst the chains, under which Monkish ignorance and superstition had persuaded them to bind themselves, and to assume the blessings & security of self government. the form which we have substituted restores the free right to the unbounded exercise of reason and freedom of opinion.

“all eyes are opened, or opening to the rights of man. the general spread of the light of science has already laid open to every view the palpable truth that the mass of mankind has not been born, with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few booted and spurred, ready to ride them legitimately by the grace of god. these are grounds of hope for others. for ourselves let the annual return of this day, for ever refresh our recollections of these rights and an undiminished devotion to them.”

And that, Charlie Brown, is what Independence Day is all about.

Independence Day is about slave-owners objecting to paying taxes to finance their own defence, and driving out the patriotic 20% who stood by the Law.

There's near always one to take a dim view of human aspiration. That's certainly not without merit, as failure is as human as is hope. Still, let's never forget that the focus on one side, whichever it is, won't give us a complete account of human reality.

Holy buggers congratulating themselves have never done much for me, I freely admit! :)

God Bless America, once again our forefathers would be happy to see America woke up in time and reversed this moral cesspool we had been swimming in under a liberal President, back tot he business of the common sense resolve focused country that they intended this to be.

Happy Birthday America

How could people like you live outside the moral cesspool, capitalism, in which you were born and brainwashed?

There's an easy explanation why you can't live within capitalism. You aren't capable of doing for yourself and have to rely on socialism in order for you to have anything. Easy to spot your kind.

Your ID may well be a private joke, but on the face of it is pretty damned stupid.

The notion of an Independence Day must be depressing to the Welsh-English. At least the Scots and Irish have their pride.

16 signers of the Declaration of Independence were of Welsh descent. Do not for one minute think Iolo represents all the good Welsh people.
