It's understandable that the parents will cling to any straw but this is totally futile. In the US the life support would have been turned off when the cash meter ran out anyway.

The doctors at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) had already considered nucleoside therapy but decided the experimental treatment, which is not designed to be curative, would not improve Charlie's quality of life. GOSH is a world class childrens' hospital, so I resent ignorant twats like you intimating that they are somehow inferior to the US.

The court decided to accept the expert opinion that keeping the child alive only served to prolong the child's suffering. I don't know how to be more clear. The parents prolonging the suffering is cruel and abusive to their child that likely only experiences pain and nothing else. Nature would have allowed for a merciful death for this poor child, but humans love to play god and keep them alive so they can suffer and we can shout from the mountain top how fucking awesome we are! Fuck yeah! Medicine! It works, bitches!

great. so this can be applied to similar situations right? like when a spouse wants to keep the husband alive or the power of attorney her grandparent. What about when you want treatment but the doctor thinks your screwed regardless?

You realize your literally arguing for death panels right?

Lets also be honest that the hospital just doesnt want to pay for it anymore.

The president of the United States has offered to help. The pope is willing to have the Vatican hospital take him in. Some 1.3 million pounds ($1.68 million) have been raised to help him leave Britain for treatment.

But little has changed Tuesday for Charlie Gard, a terminally-ill British infant suffering from a rare genetic disease that has left him severely brain damaged.

The child is at the center of a global crusade to have him treated in the United States with a trial therapy. Hospital specialists have said the experimental therapy won't help. Three British courts have ruled it's in Charlie's best interests to be allowed to die with dignity.

Parents Chris Gard and Connie Yates are spending time with their son before his life-support is turned off.

Apples and oranges, dude. I've already showed you how compassionate trump is to kids with cancer. All that money he charged for use of the facilities could have been given to the charity.
