Why did Russia want Trump to be president?

They didn't ... like most around the globe, they believed right up until 9pm on election nite, that the Hillbag would be the next U.S. President. Thank your State Media masters for lying to you.

Trump is one of many pawns that Putin has backed in some way in his goal to weaken the alliances that have stymied Russian influence.

Hey, I did it in one sentence.

They realized what many of us already knew. How fucking incompetent he was.

Multi billionaire defeats 17 of the repubs best professional pols and defeats the pre-declared winner, the old pro, Hillbag. And that's the Lefts definition of someone incompetent. :palm:

No wonder you lost.

That's not in contradiction with the original poster's question. Thinking Hillary would win doesn't mean they weren't pushing for Trump, and they were. This is an established fact at this point.

Yeah, the Russians sure are stymied ... cough *** Crimea *** cough

Not a fact ... it is established Russian propaganda.

Actually, it's not a fact.

It's a fact that our entire US intelligence apparatus asserts with high confidence that it is a fact. It is a fact that every federal politician who sees the Intel and is asked about it agrees that it is a fact. And it is a fact that the potus finally admitted it is a fact.

Sorry, that doesn't make it a fact.

It is not a closely guarded secret.

Russia has always wanted to drive a wedge between western Europe and the United States. It serves their interest to weaken the western alliance. When Drumpf insults and belittles our allies, it is music to the Kremlin's ears.
Moreover, they prefer an incompetent dupe in the White House, one who will not complain about, let alone substantively interfere with Russia's geopolitical objectives. What Russia does not want, is a mainstream American pro-NATO president with strong internationalist commitments to foreign affairs.

The Kremlin invested substantial resources to help elect the Orange Clown because his presidency serves Russia's interests more so than a mainstream Democratic, or even a traditional Republican president would.

Sorry, that doesn't make it a fact.

Apparently, the latest righwing talking points are slow in being distributed to message board dupes.

Even your incompetent Orange Clown admitted they meddled to help him defeat the Democratic nominee.

You only look foolish to keep denying it. Although I imagine all the constant flip flopping, tap dancing, and goal post moving to defend your Orange Hero must get disorienting.
