You need a larger circleI should say in parts of the Bay Area there is a very large Muslim population. The city of Fremont for instance is one example.
But within the circles I run in SF I don't see many. Or at least people that state so

How do you know, you just said you didn't know any Muslims on the surface?
I would imagine so, if he was hanging with them.Cypress said he hung out with a good number of Muslims. Did he know this because he spoke about religion with all of them?

In case you missed it my friend .. this isn't about liberals in California.
It's about terrorists on your side of the fence.
The next one year old baby b-day party we get invited too I'll make sure to ask if there are any Muslims coming and saying if there aren't then we aren't coming.![]()
I hang with a lot of people and have no idea their religion, or if they have one at all
Being a far right extremist doesn't necessarily mean they are Republicans. There are multiple places for instance where the far right and the far left come together.
THey are not registered republicans, but they damn sure feel closer together on all the issues involving citizenship, races, gender, gays, federalism and taxes.

Like where?
.. and if it's a right-wing extremist .. most likely it's a republican.

It might be because you are Republican,
and possibly affluent,
that you run with a lily white crowd(?).
privileged white liberals make the same mistake.
All of them? I don't think I ever said that, let alone implied it. Acquatainces, collegues, peers, and people I socialize with - yes, for the most part. Largely because it is interesting to talk to people. The Quaker group I hung with had inter-faith denominational meetings with Muslims. Which was extremely interesting.

Cawacko, in the immortal words of Soundgarden: "All my friends are brown and red". !! (j/k)

If you guys talk religion that's all good. In my experiences in SF religion is not something that gets discussed very often so it's quite possible people I know or hang with are Muslim and I'm unaware.
I know everyone's different but when I go out I love talking to and meeting new people. That's just my personality. It pisses off some of my friends who say "do you have to talk to everyone?" That's just me.
I grew up in Oakland so most of my friends are white or black. I get along well with the brothers so when we go out god help a solo black dude hanging at the bar. He's going to be my new BFF by the end of the evening. (I say this in a San Francisco context as we have a small black population for such a big city.)
At the end of the day I'm friends with all people. Having Midwest and southern roots allows me to have natural connections with many folks. But living in the most expensive city in the country when I'm out with work people or close friends they generally tend to be white
