That is unfortunately true almost anywhere. No different than most cultures though right? One side is not "something" enough for the other and vice versa. I just try and keep it simple. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt that they are good people when I meet them until they give me a reason to think otherwise. I am happy to report I am right a majority of the time doing that.

However many Americans can only ever see one kind of racism or prejudice. For instance Nigerians can be incredibly arrogant, and indeed racist, I speak as somebody who used to go to shebeens with a Nigerian mate in London a few years back.

Everything you just wrote is spot on. The bolded could not be more correct. For as good a country as the U.S. is, they only seem to think whatever bad social problems exist, we have the worst ones. I have no idea where most people in this country get that rather fucked up notion.

You haven't made a legitimate argument for culture as far as I'm concerned. You're comparing a person from a majority white country to one from a majority black country and saying the first group is bad while the second group is good. Your argument depends on skin color and nothing else.

If the word "carib" is a slur then take it up with anthropologists and historians.

I suggest you call a Garifuna person a Carib. They will either be sad or slap the shit out of you, whichever enters their head first.

Most Americans are only familiar with our kind of racism because it's a product of our history. It doesn't mean we wouldn't condemn other countries' racism if we were familiar with it.

Do you recall from the Netscape forums a guy from S. Africa whose user name was swansomething man? He was a white guy who had lived and worked there for decades, and would post how the S. Africans were racist towards him and sometimes dangerous to other whites.
