Why would Comey need to hope there are no tapes? This is implying there's a possibility of tapes.

If Trump released tapes showing he had a civil conversation with Comey, wishing him well, etc.
You goofs would say he only released the ones he wanted to release and kept the incriminating ones secret.

Sources[lol] say Trump had Comey's office raided after he fired him. Comey could have had tapes---or memos for that matter.

OK, obviously Trump was bluffing. I'm just saying that tweet itself implies there might be tapes.
For the record in case it's not apparent: I think Trump made it up to try to scare Comey.
Trump is trying really hard to keep his campaign staff from being fully investigated after their lies were discovered.
 
4 months ago I would have said that Rump cannot be dumb enough to have kept tapes, now I dont know...
 
There are four options about the tapes...(if they exist).

1) They completely exonerate Rump and show Comey to be an incredible liar. (If this were the case I would have expected to hear them by now.)
2) The Rump administration will deny they exist, and if they come out it will be so strangely similar to Nixon.
3) The Rump administration will fight tooth and nail in court to not release them.
4) The Rump administration will release them and make up some insane story, that his people will believe, about how they don't say what they say.

As Alan Deshowitz so eloquently said, Trump had both the perfect constitutional right to fire Comey and to ask him to stop his investigation. You should know that well enough and if you don't then you need to bone up on your constitutional law. As I said before it is just one gigantic fishing expedition, which if it were to succeed would be used against a Democratic president in future.

1) It would be an impossibility for the "tapes" to exonerate Trump in any liberals mind, they would just claim he didn't release all the tapes, do you not get that, liberals always have something else to say, it's like talking to trees.
2) Deny they exist? why would they even have to, who cares, except the likes of you, see above
3) Fight tooth and nail in court not to release what? If there are tapes they are Trumps property, he's the President in case you missed that part

Allen is wrong. And he was wrong at the eighth circuit losing the same argument. The potus does not have the constitutional right to do a constitutional act by committing a crime. Sorry. Nobody is above the law. He can fire you, but he can't commit a firing by rape, or arson, or incest or theft, or burglary or torture or .......obstruction of justice. He can't use illegal means with improper motive to do a constitutional act. He can launch world war three, but he can't do it by shooting the secret service guy in the face and eating his brain first. He can appoint a justice, but he can't do it by taking a bribe.

Note the distinction. Trump is going down.
