Why on earth is this even shocking to anyone?
Health care is not free. Of course we do not have money in the current budget to pay for it. We would have to do what ever other civilized country on the planet does: raise state taxes to pay for it. By 15 percent according to the study below.
I will take that deal every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Because, if I had to trade off the outrageous amount I pay for premiums every month to a private insurance company in exchange for a 15 percent increase on my state taxes, I am pretty sure it would be a net wash and I would actually come out ahead on the deal.
A study sanctioned by a group that supports single payer says it will save money. Let's see what other studies say. And as your article states support is fragile and it would have to be approved by a majority of the voters
