My feedback is that the Hoover think tank guy essentially takes the climate denial position, which I reject due to reasons oft stated, to wit, it is a subject beyond the ken of laity, I am laity, I must go with the consensus opinion of the vast vast majority of experts, and they believe, unlike the Hoover author, that CO2 problem is dire and that certain reductions must be made, a regime has been, at great pains at least airbrushed out and it appears everyone can have a seat at the table. It further appears big oil would like a seat at that table. This leaves the US on the outside, a huge polluter, while the rest of the world tries to confront a global problem. It is another example of failure in leadership on a global problem by this potus. I think we should be in on solving a global problem. Most all experts believe climate change is real, an emergency, man has caused it, and man can influence it. I feel it is stupid not to be part of that effort.

That's silly. Global thermonuclear war would hardly forward the purpose of causing China to reduce planetary pollution. I'll take rising tides and 4 degrees up over nuclear winter, a billion or so dead and living in a mineshaft were I so lucky as to survive.
There's a tool. It's called diplomacy. "War" on that front should be waged to get them to comply. Obviously they have a defensible position given that our economy developed unhindered by the strictures we would like to impose on them, and now that we got what we want (mature economy) it is self serving and hypocritical to make them do what we did not. That's just an argument. Our counter is that "nobody then knew."
How much, I believe we should do everything feasible and reasonable to get all the major polluters to stop, short of bombs. And China can't like the conditions it is living in. I have friends who travel there, and I hear it is intolerable, the smoke and pollution in some cities. There will be some impetus for them to play ball. Had sell when their economy is retracting.

Weather, extreme or otherwise, has not been worsening. Most weather is currently mild or at historic lows confounding the modelers once again.
Sea level has been increasing at 1 to 3 mm per year (about the width of a paper clip) without accelerating since before the industrial revolution. Antarctic ice is stable and shows no signs of melting away. (If you truly believe that coastlines are doomed, we’d like to take your waterfront property off your hands at a discount. Because it is pointless, nothing more than virtue signalling. As the article says it would be used by the environmental lobby to generate endless lawsuits. China, India and Germany will still carry on expanding coal. Indeed whilst the US has steadily reduced CO2 emissions since Kyoto, Germany has in fact slightly increased despite the much vaunted Energiewende.
