Trump to pull out of climate deal

Let's be real in the real world. 100 b is small potatoes. Commanding a seat at the table is important. The symbolism of being a climate change denier nation with a lunatic leader is a pr coup our enemies would pay a trillion in advertising budget for. And that message is taken.

Simply put, this is a watershed perception moment of the USA in decline verified by action.

our total budget is like 4t. more than half of that goes to entitlements and other earmarked stuff. Your asking for 5-10% of our available budget to go to other countries. Over and above what we send to the UN and NATO and everything else.

Not to mention this is only the starting point and the UN is already asking for more. The treaty also calls for more by 2025.

5-10% of your available funds is not small potatoes.

Some more truthfulness from you with self analysis. Keep going PackD, you will feel better finally getting this all off your shoulders. I might have to charge your publicly provided health care for services rendered though.

I'm certain they'd genocide every country if it meant one more coal job.

Well, you can scratch India off your list. The U.S. gave $11 billion to them from 2010 to 2015. India will be continuing to invest in coal power for at least the next 20 years.

From The Daily Mail..............................

They're so rich the U.K. cut them off in 2015. The country is racing up the league of rich nations. Its soaring economy will outstrip the UK’s by 2022. According to financial advisers Merrill Lynch, India has 153,000 dollar-millionaires — a 20 per cent rise in a year, compared with Britain’s own paltry increase of less than 1 per cent.

Indians have squirrelled away more money in Swiss bank accounts (a total of £900 billion since independence from Britain in 1947) than the rest of the world combined.

And when they were invited recently by the Indian Government to exchange for paper money the gold bars and jewellery stashed in their homes (so pumping cash into the national economy), a horde of £160 billion was offered up.

Call me wrong when the world comes begging and trump gets a better deal with same roi. Until then we are abnegating our duty as leader of the free world for the first time. Enjoy your Wilsonian isolationism and concomitant diminution in prestige, power, wealth and importance.

uhhh wilson was not an isolationist he tried to form the fucking league of nations for fucks sake

and trump bargaining to get a better deal sounds like putting america first which is what our president should always do.

This has nothing to do with America or anything substantive or thoughtful, this is for the Koch brothers and others in America who fought cap and trade etc. Trump requires money for his businesses, he was near bankruptcy often and Russia came to his aid. Now real American billionaires will come to aid when he needs money. Cleaning up your pollution costs more than lending or giving Donnie and Jared a couple of million now and then. Americans are asleep when it comes to how money manages government today. Read 'Dark Money' or stay asleep.

btw the main argument is that the US will become an economic backwater if we dont sign on to the paris agreement. With or without the Paris agreement we can pursue any energy source we want.

Except this time we wont be funding our competitors to the tune of 100 bn dollars. The Paris agreement actually makes the backwater argument more likely as we would be funding their industries at the expense of ours.

We weren't going to be funding anybody at $100 billion. Our commitment by 2020 was about $4 billion.

people can deviate from the norm at different rates you retard. If I had 3 arms I would be pretty damn unique, but a guy with five arms is probably even more rare. It's pretty simple. Get back in the kitchen you dumb bimbo

:rofl2: You still don't get it and you doubled down on stupid. Since I'm in the mood to take pity on a moron, I'll explain it to you.

"Unique" stands alone, it cannot be modified. Substitute "one of a kind" for unique. You can't be more or less one of a kind. It's all or nothing.

Now do you get it, you unexceptional freak?

We've already set the example and reduced our own carbon by 16%. We don't need to pay dues to join their elite little club.

climate change is the best issue for beaurocrats though. It sounds good. Any meaningful results will take decades to be measurable so its effectively unaccountable and if things dont work out just say the model was wrong.

Trump made the right call, imo - but the rhetoric of the right-wing on the environment in general is on the wrong side of history.

right.....the history that tells us climate change was caused by human activity 150k years ago.....and 300k years ago......and 450k years ago.........
