It appears these fools think the Civil War was about freeing the slaves!!! That's not just wrong - it's preposterous since

1. There were FOUR Union States (KY MD DE MO) that had legal slavery throughout the 4 year war with a total of 300,000 slaves

2. There were many NORTHERN generals who owned slaves throughout the war.

Yes indeed. He said he had no authority to free the slaves and no inclination to do so. His Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 was just a PR stunt to keep the french and english out of the war. It didn't free any slaves since it only applied to the Confederacy and that was a foreign country.!! He probably could have gotten away with freeing the 300,000 slaves in the Union but he chose not to.
