I'm not an American, except by birth. I am ideologically liberal, and the Dems have traditionally been a moderate party (ranging from center-right to center-left). Liberals within the Democratic party are few and far between, and are generally regarded as anomalies and seldom get support.

Democrat is just a party label anyways. It's meaningless. The Republicans used to be the party of New York liberals, and were overwhelmingly supported by blacks until the Republican party betrayed them during the Southern Strategy (when the GOP openly courted people who hated blacks).

Trump fired Comey because even the democrats thought he was incompetent. Was Trump compelled to allow an incompetent FBI director stay in place just because *people besides Trump himself* were under investigation?

I think Putin is correct that they cannot challenge the US directly, but they can force the US to destroy itself. Bin Laden had a similar, but more overt theory.

In order for our system of government to work,at some point there has to be compromise for the common good.
We have lost that, in favor of destroying the other guys agenda at all costs.
