Yes, it's true that Trump (not a conservative) has successfully hijacked an already-failing party and abandoned any pretense of ideology, and instead playing to the dregs of society (racists, wife-beaters, rapists, sociopaths, etc.) in order to gain votes. Maybe for some in...the 90's? But many including myself saw the Clinton years for what they where, using the Democratic party as a cloak to make the party more centrist Republican.
Hillary this last time around got knocked out by some on principle because she was the nice face of international corporatism. Trump hijacked the Republican party

This is a broad generalization for sure, but I have enough life experience now to say that there is something about being a conservative that frequently leads to anger, resentment, and sexual frustration.

I think it could take decades of research at the world's foremost university psychology departments to unravel this odious and unpleasant mystery.
