Harvard Study Reveals Huge Extent Of Anti-Trump Media Bias

I know you're "sort of" kidding, but there was a great editorial by Charlie Sykes (a conservative) about this a few weeks back. Much of what Trump supporters latch onto is that he drives liberals crazy; they figure he must be doing something right if that's the case.

It's a weird standard, and a pretty low one. Though I know people who voted for Hillary who would have felt the same way, intelligent people should set a higher bar for POTUS.

You expect Southern Man to do what intelligent people do?

So what is the argument here? Is the Harvard study accurate or not?

The argument from my perspective is that it doesn't matter if the study is right or not. Given that it's Harvard, it probably is right .. but who cares?

Trump started this war .. and he used the tactics of lies, distortions, accusations, fake news, and hate. He's the least popular president in modern times.

Nobody cries for Trump but his followers .. and few care if he's being treated fairly.

He should have been smarter.

BAC and Thing1 thank you. I like to hear all sides.

I enjoy talking to you. :0)

Look at it this way brother .. Trump came into office attacking the Media, Intelligence Community, courts and judges.

His fate lies in the hands of all of them.

Simply put, Trump is not a smart man .. he's a rich man .. but they are not the same thing.

You were on his case from day one, unfortunately you're far too partisan to see that this will set the template for the future. Of course you will one of the first to bellyache when your favoured candidate in 2020 is subjected to the exact same treatment.

About a zillion people were against Trump from day one. Why? Because they knew something you don't .. Trump is not the least bit suited to be the president. He has neither the intelligence nor character to be president .. but you don't know that .. which says a hell of a lot more about you than me.

I enjoy your insights also BAC.

There were two choices, Trump was the better choice. So why don't you blame your crazy fucked up system that can't even provide two decent candidates. I mean, holy fuck, she spent over 1. 2 billion dollars on her campaign, now that is seriously fucked up.

Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The study proves what I have been saying for months. The media is at war with Trump. Granted, he basically started it and is by no means an innocent party given he constantly bashes them. However, the media shouldn't stoop to his level. They are merely proving him right. And, they are not living up to their supposed standards by not being objective.

Yellow journalism.

Yes he did, but that's how he beat Clinton who was able to far outspend him otherwise.

The media is full of highly vindictive nasty people, sadly much of journalism is like that.

When you attack the media, the Intelligence Community, and courts and judges .. guess what happens?

You don't get it. Trump is an idiot, a buffoon, a carnival barker, who has neither the intelligence nor character to fit the job that people like you put him in.

That's not debatable .. it's a fact .. a GLARINGLY OBVIOUS FACT.
you don't get the role of the 4th Estate.
It's to report and in some cases editorialize. And when editorializing be sure to make that clear.

It's never to advocate and call itself "journalism!" - when you do that you are effective a PARTISAN press
and you are no longer giving a true picture ( warts and all) to the We the People.

After all the press has 1st Amendment rights, and political speech is the most protected because of the ROLE
the press plays, and not just because we like pundits.

The press was hostile towards him during the campaign also..it's gotten feverishly worse because the press is an arm of the "resistance" -meaning again it's deeply partisan

Leaking is even worse (and illegal), but simply massaging what is news to become newz is equally
dangerous to the democracy

I really can't think of a media outlet that isn't biased in some way now. It's just the way it is.

But it's overblown. There is still a lot of great reporting out there - even on the CNN's & Fox's of the world. The internet changed everything. Viewers and readers have to be more attuned to it and wade through the BS for the truth.

The fact remains that Trump has brought most of this on himself. For starters, the negative press has much to do w/ the fact that he got off to a very negative start. I've truly never seen such incompetence from a new admin - amateur hour all the way. Even Republicans admit it has been a bumble-fest.

But, as some have pointed out, Trump has done himself no favors w/ the press by singling them out & tearing them down.

put it this way..when I look to start an OP or shore up my claims,I look first to MS media.
All my life that has been WaPo and NYTimes.

But that changed last election with their open bias, and creating fake news by their advocacy journalism
That's not my term ( advocacy journalism) - it's from the NYTimes itself.

So I have to search for alternative site for BASIC NEWS.
How many times have you seen people dismiss a claim because it's from an alternative site?
They are not even disputing the message, they dismiss it solely because of the messenger.

How does this advance our democracy? There is no "reliable source" we can all agree upon for basic facts.

"All the News that's Fit to Print" = NYTimes masthead= not true.
