The proposed venture was announced during the visit to Riyadh of President Donald Trump, who has said he wants to rebuild crumbling U.S. infrastructure.

Blackstone said it expected the vehicle to have $40 billion of equity commitments, with a $20 billion anchor investment from the PIF with the rest from other investors. Through this equity plus debt financing, Blackstone expects to invest in more than $100 billion of infrastructure projects, it said.

The new fund "reflects our positive views around the ambitious infrastructure initiatives being undertaken in the United States as announced by President Trump," the PIF's managing director Yasir al-Rumayyan said.

Blackstone president Hamilton James said: "This will create well-paying American jobs and will lay the foundation for stronger long-term economic growth."

some say that they are only doing this to mollify Trumps ego. But so what? Does it matter how the money flows in as long as it does?

Obama and the rest did not have the same views on free trade that Trump does therefore the other countries have to make sure the US gets its slice of the pie or the whole thing falls apart. This was not a consideration in the previous administration.

This is why I voted for him. The man is determined to make deals that will benefit the country and bring jobs. And I think foreign leaders have picked up on it---or if they haven't they will.

I don't know how that can be anything but good.

And I have no idea what you're trying to suggest by calling it "generic".

The piece critiques Schwarzman's close ties to and influence over Trump and how it all ties into his own financial self interest.

You might be able to see that if Trump's butt wasn't blocking your view of the rest of the world.

The point was nobody cares about the emoluments clause. Trump was elected knowing he had worldwide interests.

Get the economy going (GDP) and that's all that anyone cares about.

A good way to help do that is infrastructure spending
