Obama presided over the worst post-war recovery on record. You have to be pretty partisan give Obama accolades on the economy. The economy is about a 'term behind' in the sense we should have seen the current numbers after his first term instead of after 8 years of Obama-nomics.
So many of his policies were jobs killers: climate change, EPA regulations, business regulations, deficit spending, immigration policy. In terms of the economy, we lost half a decade because of Obama's policy and regulations.
That's why there's so much optimism in the business community. Trump just needs to follow through with his campaign rhetoric and the economy should take off. But it's still early because right now it's still the Obama/Trump economy.
A year from now it will be the Trump economy and it [the state of the economy] will have much to do with how 2018 pans out.
