it's a compromise. Obama care's requirements the per-existing conditons not be chahrged more shoot up everyone's premiums.
Is this better or not? Beats me.. I do the only sane move here is to single pay

It's true that the taxpayers will be paying for others' pre-existing illnesses (welfare), not the insurance companies. That's because it's NOT the purpose of insurance to pay for an 'event' that has already occurred. We pay insurance company premiums to gamble with our present and future health issues. (and homeowner, auto, boat, life, etc.)
 
Gotta say - it is very stomach-churning to see Republicans gleefully celebrate an action that will hurt millions of Americans.

For any of you righties that enjoy seeing me bummed out, make the most of this day.

You're off on this one. This isn't welfare.

There are millions of Americans who work full-time jobs - and many of those who work more than 1 job - who simply can't afford insurance or healthcare. This is a real issue. This isn't about people who want to sit around on their arse all day and just be covered.

There are 3 things that keep most working Americans from getting ahead: energy costs, education costs and healthcare costs. All 3, but particularly the latter 2, have outpaced income growth for decades now.

It affects the pursuit of happiness, which is really our birthright as Americans.

I don't care about the button pushers and what they think they are entitled to. If they are really suffering that much, move to canada or any country in europe. The fact that they don't move proves they aren't actually suffering that badly.

I still don't see how this is a win, yet, it has to pass the Senate, if it doesn't, it's just another embarrassment.
