Putin does not respect trump because he knows trump is totally disrespected in the USA

One request Putin will not make is "take me to your leader"

It's always nice when Dumps boss takes some time out for his staff. I hope Dump makes the most of his face time with his boss.

Trump is a billionaire, stepped down from running a fleet of multinational companies to do a four or eight year gig as the leader of the free world, and has a white-hot wife 20 or more years younger with whom he banged out another son. And you think that Putin has no respect for him.

too bad all the Russiaphobia destroyed any chance for reducing Cold War 2.0
But at least they get to meet. Meeting leads to talking

Talking is always good, it was so bad between Obama and Putin they wouldn't even talk at the same venues at times

that's an improvement, although the US really has little say,they might be able to work on ousting Assad -
but that's still a long shot,unless Russia feels it has a successor

The Russian theorists think the bad blood between Trump and Putin is a ruse intended to throw off the investigation to nowhere lol.

But yeah, talking couldn't hurt. I do think that Putin 'gets' Trump more so than he did Obama. Obama is an Ivy League guy and displayed a certain naïveté about the world [leading from behind, apology tour etc].

In contrast, Trump may be many things, but naive isn't one of them. You can't get into Putin's head but I get the sense he respects Trump as a fellow leader in a way he didn't Obama or even Bush The Hated.

I think there's reason for optimism in the talks.
