THERESA MAY makes voters’ “eyes light up” in Labour’s once impenetrable Welsh heartlands, according to the leader of the Conservatives in Wales.
As polling suggests the Tories are on course to win a majority of seats in Wales for the first time since the 1850s, Andrew R T Davies said the days of people living in the valleys “voting for a donkey if it had a red rosette stuck to it” were over. The Welsh politician and farmer, who was elected Conservative leader in the Welsh Assembly in 2011, said mining communities which would have once recoiled at the idea of voting Tory have been wooed by the Prime Minister’s “strong and stable leadership”.
