what the FUCK happened to bill nye?

Because he is well respected by those who grew up with him and who also now represent a large voting block in this country and he says what those who espouse his views (namely the media who controls whose views are heard and not heard) want him to say.
That's simply not true. At least the media puppet comment. Nye's views on ACC and vaccination are position that he's held for a long time and are main stream views of the scientific community. Given his body of work in science education on a vast number of topics and given a handful of positions that's contrary to positions held by far right conservative lay people who's views are themselves outside the mainstream of science or are completely outside of science all together that's an ad hom attack that's silly given most of the far rights views are based on right wing media. That's just a silly accusation.

There I am telling you that much of climate science is just politics and you are confirming that view. Getting you to state an opinion rather that just appealing to authority and consensus, how about you tell me what is actually known and what is unknown? Any scientist worth their salt ought to be able to tell you that without hesitation.

I disagree. I still maintain that the media controls whose views are heard and not heard and further what light they are presented in and that is why they use someone like Bill Nye the Science Guy much more frequently that the (oft more qualified) boring science guy to represent the pro side of AGW. Besides, what does an Ohioan know about the price of eggs in China?

Does anyone believe the market drives the creation of this type of progressive preachy content? Do you think there are consumers who enjoy this?

Yes, there are. They're a comparatively small segment but they are the most susceptible to advertising, and since that's what determines content, that's what they appeal to. Just look at the current "Adpocalypse" on Youtube.

I am not from Ohio but I can tell you a dozen large eggs in Beijing is about 14 yuan renminbi, about $2.00 roughly.......

Did not see this till after I posted. Good job!

Mott and I are often on the opposite sides of issues but usually not that much separates our views. And we are sometimes on the same side of some issues. He is one of a few here I feel comfortable picking on.

Any time an actual scientist presents data people are either bored to death, or they're ridiculed as having shitty data that doesn't agree with a bias.

But guys with big oil money throwing snowballs in congress is an A-OK way to discuss it, right?

Who exactly are you responding to? It sure as hell ain't the OP.

Na...part of growing up is you stop being so self absorbed and actually start paying attention to what others are doing. That's when the world starts looking crazy and it's going to hell.

My biggest problem lately is having to deal with folks now in their 60's who were children of the 60s. A pain in the ass generation!
