Wa Post Poll Shows If The Election Were Held Today, Trump Would Still Beat Clinton :)

I will admit to being surprised by that poll.

To me, it just shows that Trump's supporters are pretty hardcore, and dug in. And actually, when I look at it in that light, it's not that surprising. Trump is a huge cult of personality guy. Some people on the right weren't all that gung ho about him in the beginning, but once they got in, they were ALL in. We see that phenomenon quite a bit in politics, but I don't think we've seen it quite on this level, because of the nature of Trump's personality. People had to go through all kinds of mental hoops to accept him and be enthusiastic about him - making the decision to go back through that maze will take more than a few months of incompetence and nearly-incomprehensible dishonesty.

or people know that there are only two directions available and clinton would have taken us in the exact opposite direction. Supporters may not get everything they want but at least its heading in the right direction : )

Well, no doubt. All Trump was to a lot of voters was "not Hillary."

That one wears off after awhile.

I like that turn of phrase following the hoop jumping image... some metaphors beg to be mixed.

...and maybe, just maybe, Trump is one guy who can pull off the needed months and months of incompetence and incomprehensible dishonesty to make them all take that journey of hard self assessment.

It's working for you. It's not working for everyone.

I get some of the reasoning behind it. But we certainly don't have a balanced government that is representative of everyone right now.

The name a time when we had a "balanced government" that was a "representative of EVERYONE".

:palm:

Maybe not everyone, but the '90's wasn't bad. GOP Congress, Democrat executive, triangulation & compromising - take the best of both points of view and crafting effective legislation.

Worked well, too. We'll be lucky to see that kind of era again.

And once again you throw out a comment, because it FEELS good; but when challenged on it, you back pedal. :palm:

You always talk about the "feels" thing, but you guys are the emo's here. Y'all go ballistic whenever I bring up the popular vote, for example.

Hardly a "back pedal." But, of course, I wouldn't expect you to address anything intelligently, without trying to find some semantic gotcha somewhere.

Since when is laughing at you, going ballistic?

Don't feel isolated; because you're not the only liberal to do this.

I guess I'll have to take your word for it, but you guys never sound like you're laughing.

I'm never sure why it bugs you. It's just a fact; Trump still won the election & is POTUS. He just didn't win the popular vote.

By a fairly large margin, as well.

AND.................................what??

:dealwithit:

Hillary was just a really bad choice.

The woman is despicable, and was despicable on our dime.
And not only does the poll show trump Supporters are dug in, it shows that liberals have not learned anything from the election.
As long as they keep bashing Trump, obstructing at every turn just because he is Trump, the 305 to 226 scoreboard is not going to move.

No one can "legitimately" argue that we can not have open borders, no one can "legitimately" argue that China is laughing at our trade deficit and it's effect on our jobs, no one can "legitimately" argue that ISIS and radical Islamic terrorism in general needs to be really really confronted, no one can "legitimately" argue that liberal policy has done nothing to help the inner cities.

It's just common sense that Trump was the better choice, Hillary represented more of the same on all fronts. Liberals need to give Trump a chance, support him, and then find suttle differences at election time. This continued march of whining and moaning is futile.
And conservatives will get at least one more Supreme Court Justice during Trumps term(s). The current liberal game plan does not look promising. I'm just trying to help.

not for me it doesn't.

You know how you wake up everyday feeling dread that trump is prez?

every day I wake up thankful that hillary clinton is not the president. Then I go read the latest submissions at reddit.com/r/hillarymeltdown

I can't believe I was able to see this awesome movie actually play out. I seriously still can't believe it. What a time to be alive.

It's early.

The Potus should be elected by national election one person one vote, tally up, highest vote count wins. Congress should be elected in same manner, with reps from each state in statewide election, one person one vote of equal weight, in numbers proportional to the national census figures for the state populations, and the senate should be eliminated. The Supreme Court should be selected by a combination of the following: IQ test, bar exam score, years on the appellate bench, judicial council rating. There should be a 50 year moratorium on Ivy League and Catholic jurists on the high court, as both subsets are grossly overrepresented.

I disagree with every single opinion you expressed in this post. Every single one. That's rare.

Besides the point. Just saying that if everyone hated her how comes she won more votes? LOL

I mean this is what's so hilarious about Trump being an unpopular President (and by that I'm not referring to his poll numbers but losing the popular vote. He's not doing well in the polls either).

I mean hey...he won...what could possibly go wrong? LOL Why all the hand wringing and spinning? LOL

Good question...why are you spinning?

The 2016 election shows exactly why we have an Electoral College. LA and NYC don't get to decide for everyone else and I'm happy with that.
